Cecilia Elizabeth Best is a racialized, queer, non-status Metis Scoop survivor from Saskatoon. Their family names are Gullickson, Cook, Halcro, and Fidler. Cecilia Elizabeth holds degrees in Canadian history from University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Cecilia Elizabeth passed PhD comprehensive exams with distinction in the York University history department in 2020 (ABD). Displacement through the child welfare system brought Cecilia to the Haldimand Tract (six miles either side of the Grand River) in Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe territory. Cecilia Elizabeth Best is an athlete, an artist, and a proud auntie.
